Pension complaints procedure

Although I reached pensionable age in April, and initiated procedures with the pension administrators in January, I have only just received a payment.

Administration by Jardine Lloyd Thomson (JLT), the pension administrators, has been totally inept throughout.

To add insult to injury, I have just received a copy of their complaints procedure. JLT promise to respond to a complaint WITHIN FOUR MONTHS! And if I am not satisfied by their response, I am expected to wait ANOTHER FOUR MONTHS for a Trustee's review. Only then, they say, may I take my complaint to the Ombudsman.

So, I have been without any pension income for 7 months, and could wait 8 - 12 months for the backlog to be paid.

Sadly, mere employees have no say over who administers their company pension, so this scandal is likely to continue.

I am told that the reason for the delay was that I asked for the details of my pension before my pension date. But as Jardine Lloyd Thomson had taken no action to prepare the documentation, was I supposed to just sit and wait?
